PBA continue to give us great games this week and it resulted to interesting awards.
Clutch Player of the Week: This is the player that delivered the right plays in the last six minutes of the fourth quarter to help his team in a close game. Monster of the Week: This is the player that shows the best statline for the week. Mr. Quality Minutes of the Week: This is the player that produced a lot in a short amount of playing time. Junior Player of the Week: This is the best player of the week who is still very young. He is either a rookie, a sophomore or a third year player who is 24 years old and below. Disappointment of the Week: This is the player that played horribly and did not produce at par with the amount of minutes he played. Clutch Player of the Week: RR Garcia - Force a TO and then fished a foul to get the W against the Aces Alex Cabagnot was absent in their game against the Aces so RR has the opportunity to showcase his wares and he did. Alaska gave them a hard time that RR needed to make a winning play in the last few seconds to seal the deal. I love his composure and I am hoping coach Leo could find a way to give him consistent minutes. 1st Runner-Up: Intal - Scored 5 of their last 7 seven points to defeat SMB Disappointing Player of the Week: Jason Ballesteros - 9.5 MINS | 2 REBS | 0 PT Jason Ballesteros is the tallest bigman of Mahindra but how can coach Chris trust him if he cannot even be productive in few minutes of play? With him standing 6'7, Jason could be the real key for the Floodbusters. If he learns to use his size on the defensive end, that will reduce their huge hole on the middle. 1st Runner-up: Mark Barroca - 24 MINS | 6 PTS | 2 T.O.s | -10 -/+ Monster of the Week: June Mar Fajardo - 21 PTS | 22.5 REBS | 54.5% FG The Kraken needed to be the Kraken in their last two games as his team struggled and played lax. His 45 rebounds in two games is in average the boards of one of the team in a game. I believe, his experience has given him a better feel in positioning for rebounds. I am hoping they could give him more opportunity inside. 1st Runner-up: Chris Newsome - 28 PTS | 10 REBS | 5 ASTS | 11/16 FG Mr. Quality Minutes of the Week: Ranidel de Ocampo - 20 MINS | 15 PTS | 8 REBS | 4 ASTS This is what I like about Ranidel de Ocampo, his versatility and experience has made him a valuable jack-of-all-trades who can be very productive in just 20 minutes, just like this one. RDO exploited his size advantage on the defenders that Blackwater sent toward him. Maybe, this is a great role for him, going forward. Especially if Moala continue to dominate. 1st Runner-up: Dave Marcelo - 10 MINS | 2 PTS | 2 REBS | 3 BLKS Junior Player of the Week: Chris Newsome- 28 PTS | 10 REBS | 5 ASTS | 11/16 FG Watching Newsome play is like watching the blue sky, it is cool for the eyes. He just do things, effortless. When he slashed vertically, it doesn't look forced. Even his dunks has a vibe of elegance instead of destruction. If he could sustain this stat-filling performances, Newsome could punch his ticket into the MVP consideration. 1st Runner-up: Simon Enciso - 13.5 PTS | 5 REBS | 7 ASTS | 11/19 3FG
