One of the things that each team and fan hopes for in the upcoming season is a breakout year from one of their players. So, which are the best candidates of the 12 squads? ALASKA - CALVIN ABUEVA 2015-2016 Stats: 15.4 Pts | 8.5 Rebs | 2.5 Asts | 33.3% 3FG |43.6% FG
I don't think the rise of the Beast is already over. He accumulated those numbers in 25.6 minutes and I believe coach Alex will continue to push his minutes up.
I love the maturity that he exhibited last season. If he sweat it out in the offseason, I expect Kyle to be the sixth man of the team at the end of the year and contributing around 12 points and 7 rebounds.
This is easy because Thompson already exhibited that he deserved a starting spot with his numbers in the Governors' Cup, 6.9 points, 7.7 rebounds and 4.0 assists. I hope he puts up more muscle because he will again play some minutes in the SF position.
He has one monster game in the Governors Cup where he exhibited his streakiness as a shooter. With his dependability on defense and with Romeo learning to pass more, Anthony will have a good chance of putting up double-digit points next season.
I believe, his performance last season boosted his confidence and I am hoping that it will lead him to be more aggressive and if he can sustain his good shooting from the ouside, Jared will have a very good season.
I am hoping Phoenix will not give up on Norbert yet because he can really shoot from the outside and has a very good size for a center.
RAIN OR SHINE - JERICHO CRUZ 2015-2016 Stats: 12.5 Pts | 3.2 Rebs | 2.0 Asts | 36.7% 3FG With the departure of Paul Lee and with a coach that can give him more minutes, I anticipate a huge season for Cruz. He is an efficient scorer who can create for his teammates so I expect at least 16.5 points, 4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 35% 3FG and 45% FG.
SAN MIGUEL - ALEX CABAGNOT 2015-2016 Stats: 14.3 Pts | 3.6 Rebs | 4.0 Asts | 34.2% 3FG
The Crunchman actually delivered a breakout production last season as he posted his best scoring average in his PBA career. I believe with more experience playing the 2, Alex will continue to improve and push his numbers around 17 points and 36% 3FG.
STAR - PAUL LEE 2015-2016: 10.3 Pts | 2.7 Rebs | 2.5 Asts | 41.8% FG
With a coach that will surely provide him more minutes than what he received in ROS and with more plays for him, I expect Lee to legitimize himself as one of the mythical players in the league. Maybe 18 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists ? TNT - KRIS ROSALES 2015-2016: 5.7 Pts | 2.9 Asts | 37.5% 3FG
If Castro take his talent to China for three months then you can take this to the bag already. If not, Rosales is big enough to play some SG and he is really good.
