Each draft is different from the other. The 2011 draft was the coming out party of the Gilas 1.0 players. The 2012 draft is the arrival of the Kraken and the Beast. The 2014 was the controversial draft as Pacman entered the league.
These are my three phrases to describe this year's draft.
IT IS DEEP The 12 Gilas players alone is enough foundation for a draft. In that 12, I expect at least three franchise players to come out. I am betting on Mac Belo, Jiovanni Jalalon and Matthew Wright but I am not counting out the others. On the regular draft, there are actually a lot of potential starters. Look out for the choices of Mahindra, Blackwater and Phoenix because those three will have a good shot of becoming a starter.
HARD WORKING One thing that the regular draftees have shown is their blue-collar attitude. A lot of them are just role players in college but they put up their training gear and never stop believing in themselves. Guys like Chris Javier, Gelo Alolino, Carl Bryan Cruz, Levi Hernandez and etc. I am rooting for this draft class to succeed.
BIG GUARDS I think, this is the mark that the league will get taller in the next few years. Another giant will be joining the league in Jericho De Guzman but the height and heft of the guards should not be disregarded too. Ryan Arambulo, Ael Banal, Jeoffrey Javillonar, Jonathan Grey and Von Pessumal are legit 6'2-6'3 who plays the SG position.
And then you also have Rashawn McCarthy, Al Tamsi and Gelo Alolino are legit 6'1, playing the PG position. We will also need to consider that Kevin Ferrer and Matthew Wright can also slide to the 2.
