We will visit the Ynares Center for the second set of the Quarterfinals. Can Mahindra Enforcers and Phoenix Fuel Masters force a do-or-die match?
Meralco Bolts and Mahindra Enforcers actually played in their last two games and the Bolts won both. On both games, Allen Durnham was a monster with 34 points, 12 rebounds, 69.4% FG and 2 assists average. They cannot risk another impressive performance from Durnham so Coach Gavina should put his best one-on-one defender, James White, on him. Prediction If I pick Meralco here, it means I am predicting Mahindra to loss three straight games against the same team. In their game last Wednesday, Mahindra actually took a double-digit lead in the 1st half. I expect coach Gavina to come up with a great adjustment but still, the experience and the firepower of Meralco will overcome it and seal a ticket for the semifinals.
I hope we all learned our lesson last Wednesday, don't underestimate the Fuel Masters! It was not an accident that they hit from all cylinders in that game, they presented new plays that they rarely used in the elimination round. On the other hand, TNT has been hot on the offensive end, all through out the conference. Prediction I really love what I saw with the Fuel Masters last Wednesday. They saw the low energy and focus of the Elasto Painters and took advantage. The way they open up driving lanes for Eugene Phelps, last Wednesday, was phenomenal.
I expect TNT to avoid doing the mistake of letting Phelps do his team and win the game on the offensive end. They will clog the lane and will give extra spaces to the other bigs of Phoenix. On their offensive end, I don't think the Phoenix has the personnel to slow TNT down. So, I am going with TNT here.
